In the winter of 2027, the Academic Theater "Kyiv Modern Ballet" will go on an international tour. From January 29 to February 4, the troupe plans to hold five performances in five European cities - Lausanne, Zurich, Vienna, Prague and Krakow.
This tour will be the first international tour of this scale for the theater since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. It will mark the resumption of the theater’s full-fledged international touring activity and will be an important step in presenting Ukrainian contemporary theater art to a European audience, developing international cultural cooperation, and strengthening cultural ties between Ukraine and European countries.
During the tour, the theater will present three landmark productions by the theater’s chief ballet master, Radu POKLITARA. The ballet “Carmen.TV” will be shown in four European cities – Lausanne, Vienna, Prague, and Krakow. At the same time, in Zurich, the audience will see an evening of one-act ballets “Rain” and “In pivo veritas.”
"Carmen.TV" is one of the most famous productions of the theater, which has remained in the repertoire for over two decades and continues to attract the attention of audiences both in Ukraine and abroad. The author's reinterpretation of the world-famous story of Carmen to the music of Georges Bizet combines a recognizable plot with unexpected dramatic accents and an original choreographic solution, which has made the performance one of the theater's calling cards.
In Zurich, the theater will present an evening of one-act ballets "Rain" and "In pivo veritas." The ballet "Rain" to music by Johann Sebastian Bach and the peoples of the world is a philosophical reflection on man, time, and the commonality of human values, regardless of culture or origin. "In pivo veritas," set to Irish folk music and music of the Renaissance, combines vivid theatricality, dynamics, and subtle humor, demonstrating another side of the theater's creative touch.
