I could not resist ... My "Sleeping Beauty" is inspired by the literary source of an ancient fairy tale. Few know that even before Charles Perrault and the Grimm brothers, the Neapolitan storyteller Jambattist Basil in his book, Fairy Tale, told the story of a princess who fell asleep forever. And let the yard of the priestly monarch in our "Sleeping Beauty" is not flattering courtiers, but incredible fantastic creatures, and the young king finds his sleeping princess not through 100, but after 800 years, it does not matter. The main thing is that this performance, as well as its classical source, sings the hymn to a real, all-conquering love!
The great work in the history of world choreography "Sleeping Beauty" by P. Tchaikovsky performed by the artists of the theater "Kyiv Modern Ballet" is an organic combination, in the circle of magic phantasmagoria, worlds of reality and fairy tales. The creation of a modern production of the choreographer of the stage director was inspired by the ingenious music of P. Tchaikovsky and the story of the original Neapolitan tales of Jambattist Basil (1566 - 1632 years). Working with Swiss artist-scenographer Marianne Hollenstein and costume designer Dmytro Kuryata created space filled with new meaning of famous history, plastic images, original "European flavor" and elegant stylistic solution.
